Alastair Loxton is a Cayman Islands based investment manager specialising in providing investment advice to alternative investment structures, including hedge funds and private equity funds, and trusts. He is highly experienced with over 19 years in the investment management industry and is a Chartered Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Alastair provides advice and assistance to managers, directors and investors in open and closed ended structures across a number of asset classes and investment strategies. In addition, Alastair currently acts as an independent director and advisor to a select number of financial companies specialising in providing independent board level governance and investment oversight.
Prior to joining FFP, Alastair worked for the multinational business advisory firm, FTI Consulting, where he helped establish and manage a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission registered Investment Adviser, FTI Capital Management. At FTI he helped managers and directors winddown funds in a sophisticated and cost-effective manner, with a particular emphasis on entities looking to wind down outside of a formal liquidation process. Alastair developed bespoke divestment plans and identified options to generate liquidity from complex illiquid positions.
Alastair previously spent 11 years working alongside the chief investment officer of a multibillion-dollar single-family office based in the Cayman Islands, managing a diverse portfolio comprising direct investments across various asset classes along with investments through hedge funds and private equity funds. In addition to providing analysis and recommendations, Alastair provided advice on complex strategy implementation and risk reward trade-off for investment strategies, as well as designing yield enhancing and hedging option overlays for the funds’ core positions. Alastair had primary responsibility for all direct investment execution with a wide range of brokers across the globe covering multiple asset classes. In addition, Alastair implemented and coordinated the disciplined unwinding of positions held in illiquid funds and the well-ordered exiting of difficult to trade positions in illiquid or tightly held securities.
Alastair started his career in London as an assistant fund manager within the private client group of Rathbone Group, LLC and later a portfolio manager at Rothschild Private Banking and Trust where he managed assets for a number of ultra-high net worth European families.
Alastair is member of the Cayman Islands Directors Association, an Accredited Director (Acc. Dir. – The Chartered Governance Institute of Canada) and is registered with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority as an Approved Director.
