Richard Lewis has extensive experience in his capacity as trustee, director and liquidator in relation to a variety of offshore structures.
Richard’s experience includes appointment as trustee and director in contentious circumstances with active litigation. Richard’s experience covers administration of a broad range of structures including regulated hedge funds, private equity, securitizations, capital markets transactions, asset financing and leasing transactions through both conventional and Islamic financing methods over multiple jurisdictions. Richard has been involved from setup of a structure through its life cycle to termination. This experience provides in-depth knowledge and skills to advise on a wide range of structures and has allowed him to build an extensive network of trusted advisors and legal counsel in multiple jurisdictions.
Formerly a senior manager at a private trust company in Cayman, Richard supervised a team of corporate and trust administrators managing client companies (including, ordinary, exempt, LDC and SPC companies), limited partnerships, SPV’s and trust structures.
Prior to this Richard worked in the asset management assurance team at PwC in the Cayman Islands, focusing on the audit of offshore hedge funds, private equity funds and other asset management vehicle. Richard was also a member of the PwC Caribbean Region Accounting Consulting Services group providing technical accounting guidance to clients and other PwC firms.
Richard completed a BA Hons degree in Financial and Business Economics at Newcastle University in the UK.
He became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) in 2011 having trained with Mazars LLP in the UK. He also a member of the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA) and an affiliate member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
